DELMARVA POWER – SUMMER READINESS INFORMATION

Date Posted: Wednesday, May 27th, 2026

Dear Valued Customer,

As we enter the summer season, higher temperatures, increased electricity use, and the potential for severe weather—including hurricanes and tropical storms—can place added demands on the energy grid. It is important for our customers to understand the steps being taken to prepare for these challenges and ensure continued reliability.

Through ongoing grid modernization and smart technology investments, we are enhancing system resilience and strengthening infrastructure across the region.

To maintain reliable service during the summer months—when demand and storm activity typically rise—our crews are actively working to inspect and upgrade equipment, trim vegetation near power lines, install more durable aerial cables, and expand underground infrastructure. In addition, we are conducting storm response drills and planning exercises to ensure safe and rapid restoration efforts when needed.

    • DPL has a new online “MyAccount” self-service feature allowing customers to add contact information to accept outage notifications and restoration updates.

If a severe storm hits, Delmarva Power monitors local weather reports regularly and follows the advice of local emergency management officials. We follow strategic response plans to restore electric service to the greatest number of customers first and will work to restore the remaining services as quickly and safely as possible. Customers are asked to immediately report a downed wire or service issue by calling 1-800-898-8042 or visit Delmarva.com. Customers can also text “OUT” to 48710. Customers must first text “ADD OUTAGE” to 67972 to sign up for this service.

Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers, employees, and communities. By taking a few simple steps, together we can be ready, stay safe, stay warm and dry, and use less energy this summer.
