IMPORTANT INFO.: WOODLAND FERRY CLOSURE EXTENDED
Date Posted: Wednesday, September 30th, 2026The Woodland Ferry was taken out of service on September 14th for routine maintenance. However, during that work, a problem was discovered with the vessel’s thrusters. Those assemblies will need to be removed, repaired, reinstalled, and tested.
The ferry must also undergo its annual U.S. Coast Guard inspection.
Officials with DelDOT expect the ferry to remain unavailable to motorists for at least two more weeks. It is expected to resume transporting vehicles across the Nanticoke River on the afternoon of October 9th.
